Shakti Sarkin

"Paradise", 48" x 48", oil on canvas, 2016

Shakti Sarkin, painter in oils and acrylics, created a new series in January, 2015. Though she is often painting people and landscapes, she awoke from a beautiful dream of a tree where only bits and pieces of the image remained. Half-formed trees became roots in earth and branches merged with sky; the limits of the physical began slipping into ether. Based on what she dreams or sees when sitting very still and half-focusing, these pieces embody an aftertaste of emotion roused by the place where abstraction meets color, form and movement, and where the tangible becomes felt, but unseen.
